Focusing through "power-ups"

Taking walks in the morning and/or evenings helps me clear my mind and lets me "power up" so I can focus better.

The energy I get from a thirty minute to one hour power-walk every morning keeps me energized all week long. Some people walk every morning. Some people walk every evening. If you can't find the time to walk for thirty minutes to an hour every morning or evening try this:

  • Do a quick 20 minute power-walk every morning.
  • Walk for 30 minutes every other day.
  • Walk for one hour twice a week.
It doesn't matter when you walk or for how long, as long as it's at least twenty minutes, the key is to disconnect yourself from technology when you do it. Leave your cell phone behind and, while walking, take in the smells, sounds, sights that surround you. Take deep breaths and let the air out slowly; feel the oxygen going through your body. Stop, close your eyes and hear the sounds. Take a look around and find something beautiful.

In the last few years I've been trying to eat healthier, I quit eating fast foods like McDs and BK, drink more water, I used to drink two or three cans of coke a day, exercise by way of walking and enjoy myself a little bit more.  I started waking up earlier a while back too and I try to take full advantage of it. If it's nice out, which it is most days, I take an hour power walk around the neighborhood.  I used to take my dog, Slinky, for walks every morning but she quit wanting to walk with me. I guess walking for an hour isn't Ms. Thing's thing :)

If you don't know, I got a kitten about a week ago to keep my dog Slinky company so that she doesn't drive me crazy all the time. I live in an apartment and Slinky, who is a Chihuahua, is always anxious to spend lots of time outside when I get home from work. Under these circumstances, I wasn't about to get another dog so I decided on getting a kitten.  She's adorable. I named her Smokie. You can see a video of them below. So I woke up this morning to Smokie biting the back part of my knee, ouch! Not a good way to wake up but, she's just a baby I keep telling myself, she'll get over it. I love watching them play together and will be uploading more videos of them throughout their life together.

Another terrific day at work has ended for me. If it has for you also, I wish you a peaceful evening/night.

Oh, I almost forgot....I'm posting an inspirational or motivational quote every morning during my video blogging frenzy, lol.  You can view the very first one here.

Finally, I've been finalized

It's been a long four months of therapy since my auto accident in April.

I was driving my son to work one beautiful Sunday afternoon when all of a sudden we were hit from the rear. Apparently, a vehicle (obviously not paying attention) slammed into the back of another vehicle which smashed into the vehicle in front of it which made that vehicle crash into us. Three vehicles + us!

That was in April and, after four months of therapy, three to four times a week, I'm finally done.

I came out of that experience a better person. Not only did I meet some great people over at CEDA I now have a better understanding of body aligning, massage therapy and physical therapy.
